Company
founder Gary Smith has a extensive background in marketing and
web development. His earlier career in industrial sales prepared him for
a career in the logo products industry. His first opportunity to reproduce
a company logo came when he got an order for an industrial ink jet printer
which involved programming a printhead to spray a box of towels with the
James River Paper Company logo. Unfortunately, this printhead only produced
16 dots top to bottom, so some of the subtleties of the logo were lost.
Another formative experience came in the early '90s when he was given
a contract to train 50 paper mill employees on a piece of equipment and
the factory representative he was working with brought in 24 logo baseball
caps. This introduced him to the First Rule of Baseball Caps: bring enough
for everybody.
